1. Who this covers

Jukebox has two kinds of people: the host, who registers an account and runs an event, and guests, who scan the host's QR code to request a song. This policy covers both, plus anyone who writes to support.

2. What we collect

From guests, on the request form:

  • The name they type in — used only to announce and display the request.
  • An optional message — read aloud before the song plays.
  • The song they pick, via search against the event's connected music catalog.
  • A random device token, generated on first use and stored in the browser (or, in the iOS guest app, on the device). It has no login and no personal information behind it — it only lets a guest's phone recognize its own past requests in that browser or app install.

Guests are never asked for an email address, phone number or account of any kind, and requesting a song does not require installing anything.

From hosts:

  • An email address and password, to create and sign in to a host account.
  • Whichever music service the host connects — Spotify and/or Apple Music — via that service's own sign-in. We store the connection's access token, so the app can control playback, and the account label it returns (e.g. an email address and subscription tier), so the host can see which account is linked.
  • Anything the host types when creating an event, such as the event's name.

From anyone who emails support: whatever is in that message, kept as part of normal email correspondence.

3. Why we collect it

Every field above exists to run the request queue: matching a guest's name and message to the right song, announcing it in the right order, showing the host their event's queue, and keeping the host's music account connected so playback works. We do not use guest or host data for advertising, and we do not sell it.

4. How the announcement works

To read a request aloud, the guest's name and message are converted to speech. Depending on how a given deployment is configured, that conversion runs either on our own server or through a third-party text-to-speech provider (ElevenLabs) acting on our behalf solely to generate the spoken audio. The text is not used by that provider for any other purpose.

5. Music services

Jukebox does not stream or host any music itself. Songs play through the host's own Spotify or Apple Music account, and searches for songs are sent to that provider's catalog. Use of Spotify or Apple Music through Jukebox is also subject to that provider's own privacy policy and terms.

6. How long we keep it

Host accounts and connected music services are kept until the host deletes their account or disconnects a service.

A guest's request — their name, message and song — stays attached to the event after the event ends. Ending an event does not automatically delete its requests: they remain visible on the host's dashboard until the host removes them. A host can delete any pending request at any time from their dashboard, which permanently removes it.

A guest's device token persists locally on their phone (in the browser or the guest app) until they clear their browser data or delete the app; we do not use it to identify a guest across events or link it to any other information.

7. What we don't do

  • No analytics or tracking of guests or hosts beyond what's needed to run the queue.
  • No archiving or post-event recap generated from guest data.
  • No advertising, and we do not sell or rent personal data to third parties.
  • No automated screening of messages — the host holds the controls instead, and can reveal a message before it's announced or remove any pending request from their dashboard (see the terms of use).

8. Your choices

As a guest, you can ask the host to remove your pending request before it plays, since only the host has queue controls. To ask us to remove a specific request from our systems directly, write to raring.seater.7e@icloud.com with the event and the name used on the request, and we'll act on it.

As a host, you can disconnect a music service, delete pending requests, or ask us to delete your account and its data by writing to the same address.

9. Children

Jukebox is built for private social events and is not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone we know to be under 13.

10. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
